Resin Floor For A Warehouse Environment
With a tripling in production,
Cardinal Health Contract Services
UK, provider of a broad
range of packaging services to
the pharmaceutical industry,
needed to increase warehousing.
As part of Cardinal Health's UK
facilities development project,
Mansell Construction Services
contacted Ryebrook Resins to
lay a resin floor in the existing
warehouse that would be suitable
to withstand the considerable
loading requirements created
by extensive racking and
the constant use of automatic
guided forklifts.
The Flooring Process
To create a level surface on
which to lay the floor, Ryebrook
Resins undertook a laser survey
of the original warehouse floor.
This was used as the basis for grinding down the high points before a pumped
floor screed could be laid at between 6 and 35mm thickness to meet Mansell Construction
Services close tolerances.
The Floor Screed Finish
After being left to dry for four days, the floor screed was prepared by shot blasting
and Ryeflow 2000 solvent-free epoxy self-smoothing resin laid to 2mm thickness.
The resulting floor successfully withstands heavy loading and abrasion incidents
as well as being impact-resistant. For employee safety the slip-resistant properties
of the resin floor help reduce accidents.
